At the risk of being called a "wise guy",
how about offering this as a new solution
to our finance problems.
There was a Bank robber in the thirties that
when asked, "Why do you rob banks?" he answered.
"'Cause that's where the money is".
The American people want no part of lending
700 Billion dollars to those investment
bankers that were overcome by greed.
There is another source.
Why don't the members of the NY Stock Exchange,
which is worth about 21 trillion dollars, lend
700 billion to their friends.
That is what banks do every day.
If you answer that they would not aid their
competitors, isn't that the whole concept of
the F.D.I.C ?
Asking the American tax payer to bail out a failed
business is somehow "Un-American".
We are our brother's keeper....but...
Let Wall Street bail out its own "brothers".
Call it the "Wall Street Insurance Corporation".
700 Billion would be only about five percent of
it total value.
And I don't want to be Secretary of the Treasury.
