While many of us are wringing our hands in frustration at the thought of entering the next Great Depression, Vermont's Senator Bernie Sanders has proposed a great alternative to Hank Paulson's "bailout those responsible bill." Let's stop letting Republican fear tactics dictate the legislation we discuss and support. Rather than being frightened, let's look for solutions: often they're right in front of our face.
House Banking Committee Chairman Barney Frank and tens of thousands of American's have signaled support for a five-year, 10 percent surtax on income over $1 million a year for couples and over $500,000 for single taxpayers. Ex-bank CEOs like Hank Paulson have been receiving bonuses that range from $38 to $68 million dollars: it's time they bail out Wall Street instead of us.
