I am ever so reluctant to write this. I have become a firm believer that 'concern trolling' does absolutely no good. And I could well be convinced that this diary lives up to 'doing more harm than good'.
But, I stumbled across and Obama Ad that I literally hate with all the loathing in me.
While I appreciate that Barack Obama may well want to try and present himself as a 'rational actor' in a debate regarding health care, he contorts not only the 'lefts' position to that beyond what those of us on the left proscribe, but he also fails to point out that the right is far more right than he has allowed for.
"Single Payer" -- the typical 'extreme left' position on health care -- is NOT government run health care. Caricaturing this as government run health care is dishonest and unhelpful.
But, in this ad, as far as I am concerned, this is the least of the offenses.
The "extreme right" position is completely played down. The extreme right position is NOT that Insurance companies are allowed to operate without regulation and deny coverage -- This is what we already have!
It is not even the John McCain campaign's position. McCain's advisors have stated flatly both that the problem with health care in the US is that there is "TOO MUCH Health Insurance" and that No One is uninsured anyway because of access to Emergency Rooms.
This AD sucks, and as a very proud Obama supporter that has donated to his campaign, canvassed for him, stood out in the rain in Fredericksburg for some 6 hours to seem him, I find this ad unbearably depressing in all honesty.
