The Columbus Dispatch has released it's mail in polling results for State issues 2,3,4 and 5. This poll is notoriously accurate, and just 2 days out form the election - the outcome is wide open in Issue 4 and 5 - and issues 2 and 3 look like a done deal.
Results in the extended
Issue two
This looks like it is a done deal for the good guys. Folks are going to be able to vote by mail up to 35 days before an election. This is a huge victory for voting reform - and will increase the turnout in our Ohio elections.
Issue 3
This is the most surprising result. IT will have a huge impact on campaign finance in Ohio. This will result in possible the strongest campaign finance limits in the country.
Issue 4
Urgh. Perhaps the most important one and if i had to guess it is going to fail. Even if all those dont knows break 2-1 in favor we still lose. The only hope here is that the turnout model vastly favors us, and if the Democratic Party in Ohio had a culture of winning instead of an addiction to losing that might have been the case. But it looks like this is an effort we are going to have to try again.
Issue 5
This is the nail biter - and if i had to guess i think we win this one narrowly and send a message to Blackwell to go fuck himself.
We did catch a break in that issues 2 and 3 are first on the ballot and are overwhelmingly popular, and hopefully it will lead folks who are undecided to break for yes on issues 3 and 4 too.
After the election i have a long list of people I think deserve thanks and credit for all the hard work they have done on Reform Ohio Now. These are ground breaking initiatives that cold spread throughout the country where needed.
There are big GOTV operations going on around the state right now and tomorrow - then the big day is finally here.
Let's all hope that the agents of reform finally win one ! It would be about time.
