In more ways than one.
David Nather has the report at CQ, and that kind of behavior is just embarassing.
I teach second graders about attitude in the face of an enemy. I teach them how NOT to allow someone to get under your skin and throw you off your game. Maybe John McCain needs a lesson.
What. A. Loser.
Let the record reflect that Barack Obama made the approach to John McCain tonight.
As the two shared the Senate floor tonight for the first time since they won their party nominations, Obama stood chatting with Democrats on his side of the aisle, and McCain stood on the Republican side of the aisle.
So Obama crossed over into enemy territory.
And he stretched out his arm and offered his hand to McCain.
McCain shook it, but with a "go away" look that no one could miss. He tried his best not to even look at Obama.
Finally, with a tight smile, McCain managed a greeting: "Good to see you."
He should have studied the reaction to his failed debate attitude. I have not seen a single writer praise his cowardly avoidance of eye contact.
But no...
Is McCain afraid that Obama will look into his 72 year old eyes and see three letters... W. T. F.?
Is he playing to the wingnut haters and trying to be one of them?
What kind of votes does he expect to get with such obvious contempt?
The comments on the CQ article shed some light.
He acts like Obama is part of the Viet Cong. Can someone please remind McCain that he doesn't have to behave like a Prisoner of War anymore! I think they need to do another psychological check on him. Something is fundamentally not right with his coconut.
So maybe this is a flashback?
It isn't contempt, precisely, it is disgust at his own inability to beat the man. McCain is ashamed he is losing. And he can not face the man who is beating him.
Ahhh. He is embarassed at his own performance.
The McCain campaign has made repeated references to "Blinking...", "Not blinking..." You know, you've got to look your opponent (enemy, foe) in the eye, face to face, before you can say you haven't blinked.
Maybe the Palin effect has McCain running fast away from everything she has said?
Grace has always been McCain's handicap.
Could he get an injection or something? 100cc Grace, quick!
Though I truly disliked Reagan, on a policy and administration level, I found some of his personal qualities admirable. He was able to at least put on a nice face and greet his adversaries, which comes from years of being an actor.
John McCain = Bad Actor. Got it.
Oh please, this is just one person's observations, I'll bet if you ask 10 other people you'll get 10 other versions.
The rethugs eventually took over the comments, but this one might have a point.
John McCain is shooting for the 10 other sore losers in the country.
Sad day.
