When Joe Biden mentioned his son going to Iraq tonight, and paused every so slightly, I -- as a mother of a son who has been in Iraq-- was in tears.
Sorry, but you have to have a direct personal relationship to this issue to know what it means to a family to have a son or daughter in harm's way in a war you don't believe in.
For me the most moving part of the debate was the reaction of Biden to his son deploying to Iraq. Palin hardly seemed to react at all. What kind of mother does not feel in their gut that they are sending their son to a war that was not necessary?
Palin was unfeeling and robotic in this area, and I don't care if she dragged out her baby to the spotlight. Biden scored on this one. But as a woman with children and grandchildren, I was not impresssed to have someone dragging their kids out at 10 pm or midnight just to show they have them. It didn't help me at all.
My question to you all is -- on the emotional level, who scored better in this debate?
