Don't like canvassing?
Afraid of the nasty folks on the other end of the phone?
It happens to lots of people.
There's other work to be done.
Follow me on the jump for five ideas for the next five Saturdays.
Those campaign offices are dirty. Like nasty, dirty and gross. And I am not a clean freak. When I was working the front desk at HQ on Thursday, I saw some couple walk through the door with mops and some a huge jug of hand soap. They quickly got to work in the bathrooms and the kitchen. No fanfare. They were hardly noticed, but I couldn't get the grin off my face.
Don't want to talk to a single person. Go and ask to do data entry. Bring your laptop or use one of the computers there. It is the central nervous system of the Obama operation. It is crucial. You will help win your state if you do data entry.
Volunteers are hungry. Staff is hungry. Can you drop some food down by HQ? Friday lunch at KC HQ was a President's Tray from Gates BBQ. I set it down, worked at the front desk for twenty minutes and went back to an empty tray. Not the healthiest alternative but it was enjoyed by all.
Yard Sign assembly? Yard Sign Delivery? Obama signs are not scarce in KC but there are many downticket candidates that are canvassing and sign-planting. They need help to get their signs UP & OUT.
Got to Court! There are precious few days left for voter registration. Go to your local Municipal Court on Monday and register voters. You don't have to persuade anyone - just get them to register.
