Sarah Palin is living in a glass house on launching racially motivated attacks against the Obama Campaign. You know what they say about Glass Houses.....
I have not wrote a blog post in a while but, I was surfing the web today (I should have been working)and ran across a interesting posting from a women from the the National Juneteenth Observance Foundation.
For those who don't know "Juneteenth" is a a little known celebration except for certain states where it is noted as a state holiday or floating holiday. Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day, is an official annual holiday in 29 states of the United States. Celebrated on June 19, it commemorates the announcement of the abolition of slavery in Texas.
More Information on Juneteenth can be found here
Ok, so when reading this article, dated September 19, 2008 (I know it is a little old but in light of recent events and statements by Gov. Palin, I think it is relevant) about Gov. Palin stating that she does not have any African-American on her staff and pretty much does not intend on hiring any. Below are some links from the blog posting:
The following is a statement from one of our Juneteenth Directors in Alaska:
By Gwendolyn Alexander, President
"As for Governor Sarah Palin’s involvement in the African American community, the Governor’s office hasn’t participated in any of our Alaska Juneteenth Events. All previous Alaskan Governor’s have traditionally attended and participated in our annual Juneteenth Celebration. Gov. Palin was the first governor not to send out a congratulatory letter or assist us in any way with our Juneteenth activities.
Interesting, while she attacks Obama, trying to line him with "Terrorists" and "Rev. Wright" again. In fact, while watching the Sunday Morning and Afternoon shows on CNN and MSNBC, the Republican talking heads repeated the racial charged statements of Ayers and Rev. Wright spoken by Sarah Palin. More from the blog:
I didn’t have the courtesy of receiving a reply when I asked for a representative from the Governor’s office to come and speak at our Juneteenth Celebration if Governor Palin was unable to attend. I never even heard of Gov. Palin until she was elected Mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, in Mat-Su Valley.
Governor Palin is a very energetic and spontaneous woman. With some of the things being said and going around this state right now, I’m surprised none of the national media have bothered to come here and get the words directly from the mouths of the people who have lived with her all of these years instead of ’surfing the net!
OK, so Sarah Palin or her many high school buddy staff members could not take five minutes to respond to why she could not make the state celebration of Juneteenth but, it sounds like all other former Governors of Alaska made a point to attend or send a letter to the event organizers. Wow, I guess she was too busy talking to "Joe Six Pack" or those "Hockey Mom's". She could have been taking pictures of her "Seeing Russia from her house". I don't know....but it would have been nice and proper to at least send a letter. More from the blog:
My other opinion is why would an individual who, to my knowledge, has not hired any African-Americans on her gubernatorial staff, insist so passionately on being on a television show owned and operated by an African American, Oprah Winfrey?
While meeting with black leaders concerning the absence of any African-Americans on her staff, Gov. Palin responded that she doesn’t have to hire any blacks and was not intending to hire any. What kind of attitude is this toward African-American for who may be the first Vice-President of the United States?
Wow, so Sarah Palin really does not want any African-Americans on her enter staff. Interesting, again. Is that why she keeps referring to Alaska most of the time in debates and news interviews? In her Alaska, African-Americans might be heard from rarely (it's only about 25,000 African-Americans in Alaska) but never seen in her vision of the Alaska Governor's state house.
Does Ms. Palin knows that if elected V.P. (I had a little throw-up come up into mouth...excuse me) that she would represent the interest of all Americans, including the 14% or so of the African-American population in the states....probably not with that statement. This is truly sad. Final tidbit from the article....

Well, that last statement says it all. No wonder Oprah decided not to have her on her show, until after the election, if at all. At least Oprah knows a racially mixed staff best and give a view of the total perspective. That is why Oprah has been leading in the talk show ratings for years.
Well, this is not surprising of Sarah Palin or John McCain.Remember McCain voted against the creation of a Federal MLK Holiday, before later stating that he "Made a Mistake.
If Sarah Palin wants to start throwing racial stones...she might want to look into her own closet first. I hope others will stand up against the racist overtones of the McCain/Palin campaign and particular, Sarah Palin.
