I am relatively new to phonebanking, and would love to have advice from those more experienced. I've seen some tips in diaries, but would like more. And especially for those rough patches.
I started with calling into Colorado, and in among the high proportion of "not homes" I had a few McCains, a few undecided, but a nice proportion of "voting for Obama." Now I'm calling into New Mexico, and it's a lot more discouraging. I've gotten a lot more McCain's, and a lot more "no way would I ever vote for Obama!" type responses. After a long string of these, it can be hard to keep calling. I debate with myself about continuing right now vs. going off to do something else for a while.
Anyone want to share stories on how they keep themselves going cheerfully after a bad string? And does one simply say "thank you" and hang up?
