This election will be forever burned in my memory because of my feelings. Feelings are feelings. There are neither right nor wrong. Feelings ARE what they are. Descartes was wrong. I don't think therefore I am. I feel therefore I am.
Distorted thoughts become misplaced feelings that can hurt us when our actions come back to haunt us. I owe so many people an "I am sorry" I lost count. Most of people in the local Democratic Party don't know what to say to me.
One thing I write in this blog everyone will agree with is:
Emotionally this country will NEVER get over the years President Bush has spent in office until the generation that lived through it passes away. You got to hand it to George: He is unforgettable! The stronger feelings create the stronger the memories. Feelings might fade but the memories stay behind. In my last post I talked about how Republicans have streamlined deregulation and harmed our health. Nobody notices. People are caught up in their own thing. I feel hurt because it is important.
How or why are we so consumed by our emotions? I guess people are too angry at Sarah Palin's latest comment about Barack Obama: "paling around with terrorists" Governor Palin needs either lighten up on the testosterone or get ready to shave a very hairy lip!
It was the 60s and then like now everyones' emotions ran high. She wouldn't know she was in the Alaska backwoods shooting mooose. There is one difference this election might be for all the marbles. The United States of America has become the fit to be Un-Tied States of America.
I am also heartbroken for my country. Someone once told me
"Even if Barrack Obama gets elected he is likely to be a one term President because of numerous problems we face."
I think she was right.
To make things worse, I grew to care about someone in the months leading up to this election. She didn't feel about me the same way I feel about her. We don't speak anymore. And I miss her freindship more than anything else. My feelings might be the one thing I regret the most and I can't help it. I never wanted it. It just happened. She is a great person. And whoever she is with: he is a lucky guy.
I, now, understand the different between Democrats and Republicans is wrapped in our sociobiology and our culture. Our national culture matters and can influence elections. Patrioitism can be the single greatest force to unite a nation but it seems only divides us more.
Senator John McCain in the forward to the book, Shannon French's book "Code of the Warrior" I have always found that the most difficult choices between honor and dishonor occur when no one is watching. For a politician, that presents something of dilemma. We like to have our virtue affirmed in the public spotlight. But no matter how clever you are crafting a public image of integrity, if it is false image, the truth will emerge, and usually sooner than expected.
The truth will come out about both parties. It will be a sad day for me and America. We are being emotional manipulated. We are a better people than this muckraking attack dog politics!
The Obama campaign is pulling out the The Keating Five. Spirited debate this isn't. It is just plain MEAN!
