I have blogged about Anna Lord's campaign in Colorado House District 21 before. I am coming to you with her latest press release and a plea for donations.
When it comes to conflict of interest, one lawyer said:
There are three standards here:
There is the potential for conflict of interest;
There is the perception of conflict of interest;
There is the legal issue of conflict of interest.
It appears Bob Gardner has issues here. The campaign has already sent a mailing out to all voters who requested an mail-in ballot. Funds raised will insure that a second mailing, to those who did not request a mail-in-ballot will know of Gardner's questionable web page.
Your donations can help to motivate a District where Anna polled 43% in the 2006 election without any of this information.

The press release:
This weekend, many residents of House District 21 received my latest campaign mailing. It is aggressive and speaks directly to the question of whether Robert S. Gardner should continue to represent House District 21 in the Colorado State Legislator.
In the mailing, I ask the question "Who does Bob Gardner work for?" I believe Bob Gardner has created the basis for this question himself. Bob has kept his personal corporate website – www.rsglaw.net – active all through his tenure as State Representative.
On his web page Rep. Gardner advertises that he is looking to:
•"represent clients before...various political subdivisions and governmental entities at the local, state, and federal level. Our areas of practice include matters such as...rulemaking and proposed legislation."
•"represent clients before various government agencies, boards, and committees regarding government contracts."
•"provide our clients with campaign management and consulting services, political communication and lobbying advice"
Bob even states:
•"Our clients include members of the Colorado General Assembly."
Bob leaves no question –"We work closely with our clients and provide exceptional service in ... lobbying".
In 2006, House District 21 voted over 60% in favor of limiting the influence of lobbyists and moneyed interests in Denver – every single precinct voted yes on limiting that influence. Yet, in spite of the statement from the voters of the District, Bob Gardner persists in offering his personal services to influence the State executive and legislative branches , creating the unavoidable perception that he is essentially a "legislator for hire".
The voters of House District 21 should have a representative in Denver who works for them, not clients!
