First of all, a 'shout-out' (as I understand, the kids are saying it) to the Red Sox, who finished off The Los Angeles Angels of Anahiem (the dumbest full name of a team in pro sports).
Now, i won't have any lingering distractions going into the Debate (it's after midnight eastern) later today. It feels like the cards are in place for a KO to the McCain campaign.
As the McCain campaign has, most unbelievably, said they're trying to get the focus off the economy, because if they talk about, they'll lose. I don't recall any time in which a campaign has announced they were going to go negative. I thought that was one of the things you don't talk about.
I'm hard pressed to think of a way Mccain can win the debate. i don't think it's overconfidence is my candidate of choice.
McCain was totally against every tactic he, and his campaign are employing. I hope the Dems run the ad with McCain talking about negative campaigning non-stop until the debate starts. McCain has built his myth as being a man of honor, above the fray of petty, partican politics. now he's selling it for scrap.
That, unto itself, will likely do more to back McCain into a corner than buy him some breathing room. If he tries to hit Obama with anything on the character assassination front. Obama will almost undoubtable start his response with how McCain used to be avobe such things. If he wanted to throw an elbow, he might add that was back when principles meant more to McCain that getting elected, what happened?
So, does that force McCain to play the issues? Nearly 60% said the economy is first in their minds. And they can't win on that. Point has to go to Obama.
McCain can't rely on Iraq, though I'm baffled as to why that would help. 3 weeks, 100 years, what the difference? Though, if it came up, and McCain states his claim he can win wars, I want Obama to call him on it.
What can McCain do to win a war that Obama can't? Of the two, Obama will sound more convincing in saying he'll listen to the commanders on the ground. Obama has a history of trying to get the whole issue. McCain has his certainties.
In my dream world, Obama corners him on the comment McCain made to the Des Moines Register, in which he said he spoke the '100 percent absolute truth'. And then it is almost too easy to hang McCain on any one of his past lies or flips.
And in all of this, McCain has to keep his temper down. I really don't see why obama can't pretty much land the coup de grace of the election tonight.
P.s.: Go Sox, Tampa's going down like McCains Florida polling.
