Apparently, calling a presidential candidate a terrorist gets you a VP nod but joking that Obama would hire Ludacris gets you disowned. Anybody besides me confused about the mixed messages coming from the McCain camp these days?
According to the Chicago Tribune's Washington bureau, the Swamp has reported that Bobby May, a Virginia Republican organizer for the McCain Campaign, has been removed from his post as a
as a member of the candidate's statewide leadership team...
Some of the highlights of his light hearted, good old fashioned Republican humor included:
"Examples: Obama would hire the rapper Ludacris (a prominent supporter) to paint the White House black. And the Democrat's administration would divert more foreign aid to Africa so "the Obama family there can skim enough to allow them to free their goats and live the American Dream."
"May also joked that Obama would replace the 50 stars on the U.S. flag "with a star and crescent logo," an Islamic symbol, and that his policy on drugs would be to "raise taxes to pay for Obama's inner-city political base."
I find this to be beyond offensive. Worse than repulsive, it's indicative of McCain's campaign on a larger scale.
Now, don't get me wrong...I'm thrilled that McCain' campaign would disavow this type of shit. The problem for me is that he hasn't disavowed what his running mate is saying, which is inciting levels of hatred and racism at their events that seems to be reaching a tipping point. Most of us are well aware that the Secret Service is currently investigating someone shouting out "kill him" at a Palin rally.
It's time for the media to take notice and in a big way that all McCain has left to run on is not change, but pure unmitigated hate. The examples of racism are no longer isolated incidents but rather, a growing pattern within a failing campaign.
Keith Olbermann, here's your worst person candidate for tonight.
A quick Update: The LA Times carried this story yesterday. Today, the Chicago Tribune is running with it. We need to keep this story front and center until the MSM gives it the coverage is deserves.
