Say it ain't so, Ed!
Apparently, Sarah Palin has been invited by Philadelphia Flyers owner Ed Snider to drop the ceremonial first puck at their game with the New York Rangers this coming Saturday, October 11.
Yes. For real, a candidate for national office will be appearing at a sporting event 3 weeks before a very heated election.
Now I'd prefer she not be anywhere near the Flyers, as I grew up in Philadelphia and love the team. But I get the hockey mom connection. Still this couldn't wait until after the election? When it wouldn't be as controversial?
Half the arena is likely to be openly hostile to her, which (though I'd love to see her roundly booed) will only serve to embarrass the team, its fans and the city. It's not the kind of news I'd like the team to make. And my karma-meter can only wonder if this will result in many bad things happening to the team this year.
Ed Snider used to have my respect for how he ran the club, but if this goes on, that respect is gone.
