Republican candidate Blaine Luetkemeyer of Missouri's Ninth District (who is opposed by O2B candidate Judy Baker) has some sketchy, sketchy friends.
Like, for instance, Eric Feltner.
Feltner, the former chief of staff to Missouri lieutenant governor Peter Kinder is apparently an inward of Luetkemeyer's, a crony so close that the fellow was picked from all supporters to draft Luetkemeyer's 18-page announcement speech, outlining his platform for the campaign.
Feltner has also been indicted for providing pornography to minors, a charge to which he pleaded guilty in August.
Feltner resigned this summer after it became public that he had been indicted for two misdemeanor counts of attempting to provide pornography to a minor. Feltner pleaded guilty in August to one misdemeanor charge of public display of explicit sexual material.
..
At 1:26 p.m. on March 18, Feltner forwarded an e-mail with an attached 18-page draft of a speech written for Blaine Luetkemeyer to announce that he was running in Missouri's 9th congressional district. Luetkemeyer won the Republican primary and faces Democrat Judy Baker.
The e-mails sent by Feltner were provided to The Associated Press by the campaign of Democrat Sam Page, who is running against Kinder in the Nov. 4 election. The e-mails also were included in a series of e-mails released by Kinder's office after the state Democratic Party requested all of Feltner's office e-mails under the state open records law.
How deep does Luetkemeyer's relationship with Feltner go? He won't say. But the Missouri Democratic Party would like to know, noting darkly that Luetkemeyer has based his campaign slogan on "values".
"Blaine Luetkemeyer’s slogan, ‘Our Values, Our Concerns’ is laughable, if it weren’t so grotesque," said Jack Cardetti, Missouri Democratic Party spokesman. "It’s simply shameful that Luetkemeyer had his campaign announcement speech laying out his platform written by a taxpayer funded political operative who later resigned because he provided pornography to minors. The hypocrisy of these kinds of politicians and their aides, who say one thing publicly, and do another privately, is something that voters are sick of. These are not our Missouri values."
Take a look at this video of Luetkemeyer reading Feltner's words as he begins his crusade to go to Washington:
