Let me just say thank you to Daily Kos for adding Jim Martin (GA-Sen) to Orange to Blue. More on that below the fold.
I'm so fired up today because of that and because I felt the tide turned so strong after last night's debate that we cannot go back. When I want motivation, I often put on my favorite movie Remember the Titans. Well here is a clip I found a couple months ago of a Barack video set to Titans Spirit - The score from Remember the Titans. If you are ever in need of any inspiration over the next month, watch this video.
When I got on Daily Kos today and saw that we had moved Jim Martin to Orange to Blue, I started to tear up. This encourage me that all of our hard work and struggling over the last six years was worth it. When Max Cleland lost six years ago, I was sunk. I felt we had reached an all-time low in this country in terms of smearing true heroes.
Jim Martin is not just a great candidate for Georgia, he would be a great progressive Senator for this Country. Like Cleland, Martin was also a Vietnam Veteran.
With less than a month to go, we need to dig deep. Already we have raised several thousand dollars for Jim Martin today. With early voting in Georgia, much momentum has been gained in this race and in the Presidential race in Georgia. If we can somehow pull out this
I've read a number of MLK quotes today about this race. I feel that another MLK quote is appropriate for this election and this situation. This is my favorite quote from Dr. King
The ultimate test of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and the moments of convenience, but where he stands in moments of challenge and moments of controversy."
(Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Atlanta, January 27, 1965.)
