I came across the following post on the Naples Daily News website. It compares the visits of the two VP candidate to southwest Florida. I think it gives some insight into the current situation in the sunshine state. Hopefully more people will see the light.

what a difference 2 days a REAL VP canditate makes! We went from a hockey mom with high heels and lipstick assassinating the character of a Presidential canditate to a wise VP selection that covered every issue that is effecting the American people. Went out to dinner after watching Joe Biden on TV with a little sigh of relief that it was POSSIBLE the Obama/Biden ticket would start to help solve the problems of this country. Quite the difference from Palins speech just trying to destroy a man because of his god given name and someone who sat on a board along with REPUBLICANS who sat on the same board. She had nothing to say about the issues. Oh, thats right she doesn't know where she gets her information. Went to dinner after at a popular local restaurant and even our waiter stated "I'd vote for Obama any day as an independent over McCains pick for VP." I AM THE DEMOGRAPHIC McCain wanted to pick up with his selection of Palin. I am independent 52 year old, white woman, who thought Hillary was the best qualified for the job. I liked McCain for years. He thought just because he got someone with a uterus, us women folks would follow her like sheep. From the day he picked her, I was sick to my stomach. She is nothing short of a facist, ignorant redneck. Absolutely no intellect. No intelligence. There are 6,000,000 websites dedicated to "Sarah Palin is a joke and an insult to woman". McCain did this to himself. He could have picked Charlie Crist, Romney, huckabee, the great female senator from TX, Kay B. Hutchinson, anyone would have swayed my vote but this ignorant redneck that he picked. I think its pretty disgusting that with all of us losing our 401K, eveything we own, that all she can do is attack Obama. Of course, there are sheep out there that will vote republican just because their parents vote republican. And then there are the redneck Fl "crackers" that have roots in racism. Look up where the term "cracker" came from. It dates back to the Civil War and unpatriotic AWOL soldiers escaping service to their country by disappearing in the wilderness of FL. God help this country whoever is president. But I don't want Palin a heartbeat away from the fall of the American Empire. And thanks alot Mike "Adolf" Scott for making us afraid to put a bumper sticker on our car. Truly a racist. Truly. He can't even say that he erred and WAS trying to scare people of a muslim name. I have recieved 100's of emails over the last year about Obama being a muslim and just terrible slander of this man. Scott knows those viral chain emails were out there for a year and he just fed on that. I have coworkers who got those emails and to my great dismay, they actually believed them. Of course, they like Sarah Palin, don't read newspapers or do their own investigations....knowledge is everything, and Palins knowledge is about as big as what she is a "beauty pagent queen" from Alaska.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

independents around where I live.  While doing canvassing for Obama, I hear this same concern from people who had been thinking about supporting McCain.

There appears to be vile and disgusting diaries lately cropping up with too many comments attached that propel these diaries with the attention they don't deserve. I find this account refreshing to read as we can't read all the circulars and publications out there and when you can share something from a battleground state, it's worth my read! Especially when you have a wacko ticket running around spewing filth and lies! I think people get hung up on minutiae rather than follow the person's intent of posting a diary. If you intended to share a good story, you did! C'est la vie!
