The American Family Foundation is at it again in its efforts to SCARE Americans from voting for Barack Obama.  They continue to drive wedges between faith based Americans in order to financially gain both monitarily and politically.  They spew lies and venom and then attempt to hide under 'religion' or 'Christian' terms.  They are truly wolves in sheep's clothing.  This is their latest campaign.

If you think things are bad now, just wait

October 8, 2008

Dear NULL,

The upcoming election is the most critical election in the history of our nation. The very future of our nation’s foundation is at stake. Every person will be affected. If the liberals win, then our foundation will no longer be based on the traditional Judeo-Christian morality. It will gradually but assuredly be based on an ever shifting, ever moving foundation. If the liberals win, the damage can’t be stopped with elections two, four or forty years from now. America will forever be changed. We will keep seeing a gradual and growing hostility toward people of faith, especially Christians. The morals of our nation will continue to decline. Our children and grandchildren will pay the price.

In case you may think I’m a "the sky is falling" type of person, you should know: When it comes to predictions, I am a very reserved person. But not on this one. I cannot overstate the damage a liberal victory will do to our country. The upcoming election is the most important in the history of our nation. Yes, if the liberals win you will lose some of your religious freedoms and free speech rights. Churches and pastors will not be exempt. You will not be allowed to say certain things about a particular group. Every item of the homosexual agenda will be approved. All the laws protecting the unborn will be wiped away.

I cannot overemphasize the importance of the Nov. 4 election. That is why I urge you to vote and encourage your family members, friends, Sunday School class and church members to vote. America’s future – the future of your children and grandchildren – is at stake.

Donald E. Wildmon,
Founder and Chairman
American Family Association

I had to respond:

This is a copy of the following message I sent to AFA Foundation.

As a born again Christian, retired minister and Vietnam vet, with a son currently serving in the military, I am disappointed in the fear mongering, distorted email you sent, scaring people in to following a religious right organization's position on this election.  I assure you that you do not reflect my Christian values. It is shameful how AFA continues to separate and drive wedges between Christian men and women and all Americans inspite of their religious or non-religious views, in order to further your own cause and generate financial gain.
You sir, do not reflect Christ's great commission.

Should anyone be outraged enough to contact them, their email addres is:

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

You can add a private note to this diary when hotlisting it:
Are you sure you want to remove this diary from your hotlist?
Are you sure you want to remove your recommendation? You can only recommend a diary once, so you will not be able to re-recommend it afterwards.
Rescue this diary, and add a note:
Are you sure you want to remove this diary from Rescue?
Choose where to republish this diary. The diary will be added to the queue for that group. Publish it from the queue to make it appear.

You must be a member of a group to use this feature.

Add a quick update to your diary without changing the diary itself:

(The diary will be removed.)
Are you sure you want to save these changes to the published diary?

That one was STARTED, not necessarily POSTED, 12 minutes before this one. Diaries scroll off the list very fast. The tags on that diary don't mention Wildmon or AFA. The title references Mississippi. DKos search function would not have matched the two diaries.

Does it make you feel big and important to step on this diarist's efforts?

John "Sidney" McCain takes leading role in Wall Street crisis. World financial system implodes. Coincidence?

I just wanted to write to your organization regarding a letter from Mr. Wildmon, sent to supporters and members regarding the upcoming presidential election. I am a lifelong bible believing born again Christian and a supporter of Senator Obama for president.

I believe your organization has every right to promote whichever causes you deem important, but to scare your readers into supporting a candidate which has commited adultery against his former spouse, has used foul language in the senate, and has used veiled racism and hate in this election is just absurd.

Your assumption is that since the Democratic candidate for president differs from you on one or two issues, he therefore must be 'scary' and you even go so far as to say that he will make it illegal to say certain things. You fail to see the fact that the current administration has used illegal wiretapping to listen to phone calls of people whom it deemed anti american, whether they were innocent or not, which violates the constitution you always claim to be concerned about.

Please consider the possibility that the fringe voice your putting out there may be flawed, and that God's true love is within us, and not contained within either political party.

we've got this guy out there now who is redefining the nature of politics from the ground up...Barack Obama. -Bob Dylan
