Marriage equality is an important human rights issue. As progressives, we can easily agree on that.
Not everyone sees it that way.
The Public Service Administration is proud to team up with Courage Campaign for a video campaign that frames this issue as a civil rights problem, an issue that threatens the rights of straight folks as much as gay folks. When it comes to changing the constitution, we're all in this together.
Prop 8 is a referendum item on the California ballot that will take away the right of gay folks to marry. When's the last time you remember a constitutional item TAKING AWAY people's rights, rather than guaranteeing them? Oh, that's right, it doesn't happen.
That's not what a constitution--state or federal--is for. This is a radical reframing of constitutional authority.
This isn't about gay or straight, this is about people's rights.
Hope you enjoy Gender Auditors:
Support the rights of Californians and Americans. Vote NO on prop 8, go to Courage Campaign to learn more.
Sign the pledge here. It reads:
I pledge to vote No on Prop 8, a statewide ballot initiative that, if passed, "eliminates the right of same sex couples to marry." Gay
and lesbian couples deserve the same fundamental freedoms that all Californians enjoy. I pledge to vote No on any constitutional change
that stands in the way of equality for all.
Sign the pledge, please donate, pass along the video. Get the government out of your pants.
