I've never heard of Tony Dean, but he seems to be somewhat well known in the Dakotas and upper Midwest, with his show Tony Dean Outdoors:
Tony Dean is host and producer of "Tony Dean Outdoors," a regional television show that airs across the upper Midwest. Tony also produces "Dakota Backroads", a daily radio show that airs across both Dakotas and portions of surrounding states. His TV and radio shows have won over 160 regional and national programming awards.
Tony is a member of the North Dakota and National Freshwater Fishing Halls of Fame and has received numerous conservation awards at a local, state, regional and national level.
Well, Tony Dean has cut a radio ad for Barack Obama. Here's a rough transcript (notice the hunting metaphors he uses):
I'm Tony Dean, host of Tony Dean Outdoors.
To me, there's nothing better than fishing or hunting. That's why I want a President who will protect my Second Amendment Rights and preserve our way of life.
You know, I'm a lifelong Republican, but this year I'm voting for Barack Obama.
Barack will protect our Second Amendment Rights, our freedom to own guns, and to protect ourselves.
And Barack will protect our jobs, too. He has a plan to rebuild America.
John McCain, well, he says he's a straight shooter, but his attacks on Barack Obama are way off target. McCain is just trying to camouflage his record. He'll keep giving tax breaks to companies shipping jobs overseas. And McCain voted to deregulate Wall Street, which helped get us into this mess. It's the same ol' Bush agenda that's missed the mark.
I'm Tony Dean. Let's keep our guns and our jobs. Vote for BaracObama for the change we need.
Currently it's running in Wisconsin and Minnesota, but I would bet Obama will start using it throughout the upper Midwest and wherever else Dean's show extends.
I wonder if Ed Shultz had anything to do with securing Dean's endorsement for Obama.
