I realize that we cannot yet assume that Obama WILL be elected, and that we must do all we possibly can to make sure he IS elected. But the odds are looking very good right now. Perhaps it is not too soon to think about our objectives and strategies, in the happy event that Barack Obama becomes President of the United States of America.
No President can radically change the direction of a behemoth like the USA overnight, nor would that be adviseable. Barack Obama seems to have his heart in the right place, and he also seems capeable of recognizing the many formidable obstacles in his path. At long last, we might have a man of intelligence, integrity and wisdom at the helm of our ship of state - and that alone is a situation I'm sure we are all grateful for.
But it isn't enough. Obama is not a savior. The USA as a whole is so fucked up now, that no one man can possibly save it from ruin. Obama himself has said as much, in coded terms. It's not up to HIM, it's up to US. The best that Obama can do, bless his soul, is to open the door for our participation. I believe he is able and willing to do this.
So where do we start?
