Barack Obama was greeted with uncontained hate and rage from many supporters when he thanked John McCain for his efforts to tone down the rhetoric as he spoke to a crowd of supporters on Friday.
Despite the heroic efforts of Barack Obama to keep the rhetoric to a minimum, and despite the unprecedented spectacle of John McCain admonishing his own supporters to do the same thing, the hate of both Democrat and Republican voters is threatening the messages of their respective candidates.
"I appreciated his reminder that we can disagree while still being respectful of each other. I've said it before, and I'll say it again — Senator McCain has served this country with honor, and he deserves our thanks for that," Obama told a crowd in Pennsylvania yesterday to a response of heavy boos.
It’s time for Americans – whether Democrat or Republican - to put aside the hate and to remember that there is but one political party in America - the party of business - and that it has two factions – Democratic and Republican. We must stand together as Americans; the future is going to demand the cooperation of all of us.
