So it turns out riling up the angry mob backfired on McCain. As I'm sure most of you have seen by now, he actually had to tell one of his ignorant supporters that Barack Obama isn't Arab. As if it even matters.
So I flick on the television to see a Sarah Palin rally. She's tackling abortion this time, and lying along the way.
During a town hall meeting some time ago Barack Obama fielded a question about how he would deal with HIV/AIDS and other STD's. He was expressing the importance of, not only teaching abstinence, but about contraception as well.
OBAMA: -- or we give them really expensive surgery and we don't spend money on the front end keeping people healthy in the first place. So, when it comes to -- when it comes specifically to HIV/AIDS, the most important prevention is education, which should include -- which should include abstinence only -- should include abstinence education and teaching that children -- teaching children, you know, that sex is not something casual. But it should also include -- it should also include other, you know, information about contraception because, look, I've got two daughters -- 9 years old and 6 years old. I'm going to teach them first of all about values and morals, but if they make a mistake, I don't want them punished with a baby. I don't want them punished with an STD at the age of 16.
You know, so, it doesn't make sense to not give them information. You still want to teach them the morals and the values to make good decisions. That will be important, number one. Then we're still going to have to provide better treatment for those who do have -- who do contract HIV/AIDS, because it's no longer a death sentence, if, in fact, you get the proper cocktails. It's expensive. That's why we want to prevent as much as possible.
Edit: Thanks to 'Its any one guess' for providing the video link:
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that less unwanted pregnancies equals less abortions.
So here's what our friend Sarah Palin had to say.
"Every child is beautiful before God and dear to him for their own sake, and as for our beautiful baby boy, for Todd and for me, he’s only more precious because he is vulnerable," Palin said. "And in some ways, you know I think that we stand to learn more from him than he does from us.
"So I listened when our opponent defended his unconditional support for unlimited abortions and he said he said that a woman shouldn't have to be quote punished with a baby," she said. "Ladies and gentlemen, he said that right here in Johnstown -- punished with a baby. It's about time we called him on it."
Really, Sarah? Is that what you heard or are you deliberately twisting his words for, yet, another sleazy smear from your campaign. You see, Sarah, Obama wasn't advocating for "unlimited abortion." He was talking about the importance of contraception, something your own daughter might have benefited from. Oops, did I go there?
Folks, do me a favor. PLEASE don't put me in a position to have to salute this woman. Donate to Obama, get out the vote and tell all your friends an neighbors. It's time we had integrity brought back to the Whitehouse.
I will leave you with this:
