Let me vent. Last night, the President asserted that he wouldn't allow those who have died to have died in vain.
That's an admirable sentiment, but it opens up a lot of moral questions about what it means to have died in vain; none of which were addressed by the President. The most obvious question is, "is the war in Iraq winnable?"
Aside from feel-good rhetoric, the President had nothing of substance to say about this. Before he implies that his opponents would allow the fallen to have died in vain, perhaps the President needs to ask himself why they died in the first place, and whether that sacrifice is really making a difference. Anything less is simply deceitful.
