(and a couple other semi-related thoughts)
There's a case to be made that by getting to know Bill Ayers, Obama has gotten to know how terrorists think. I wonder if that message could be delivered in an intelligent enough way that it could be pitched to the targets of the latest "Obama pals around with terrorists" attack tactic.
And some semi-related, and interconnected thoughts...
Does Bush simply not want to exterminate Al-Qaeda / capture Osama bin Laden? Or is it too dangerous to do it? Is Al-Qaeda better connected than we are made to believe? If Al-Qaeda ever took influence over Pakistan, we'd all be fucked.
It seems that to McCain, the real War on Terror starts with the War on Obama. He would rather keep his knowledge of how to capture Osama bin Laden secret, than share it, and hence, for some reason, lose his campaign. If he really had that information, wouldn't there be a benefit to his campaign if he shared it and it made a difference? And wouldn't it be the ultimate patriotic act to do that? Wouldn't he sort of have to, since he's a US Senator?
The other possibility is that he's just full of shit. And making that sort of promise (with no knowledge of how or whether he can keep it) should disqualify McCain from the office of the presidency.
Remember when that office had a certain level of dignity to it? I guess it's been a while. Or maybe dignity is experienced more retrospectively.
