The KET debate is going on as scheduled tonight. Heather Ryan will be there to debate the issues effecting Kentucky and the Nation, however the cowardly lion Exxon Ed Whitfield is a no-show.
However, in a stunning development although he was afforded the opportunity to debate in this forum, Exxon Ed Whitfield used his lawyers to threaten the KET to let him play a pre-recorded video, in which he can say anything about Heather he wishes, without rebuttal. From an email from Heather:
We knew Ed Whitfield was too cowardice to appear on the Kentucky Education Television (KET) Debates that have been scheduled for months, but his insistence that KET air a pre-recorded commercial AFTER I appear on the forum is beyond reproach!
In a blatant threat to KET, Whitfield's attorney's manipulated a "Fair Use" law laid out by the Federal Election Commission to insist that he be allowed to pre-record a statement instead of appearing in person, which is standard practice in a DEBATE.
Keep in mind, Whitfield REFUSED the offer made by KET, I ACCEPTED. Fair Use Laws have already been accommodated.
His manipulation and threats to KET is inexcusable and unfair and must be brought to light. Please call KET right now to let them know how you do not appreciate Whitfield's manipulation of the public forum at 859-258-7000.
Mr. Whitfield should be held to the same standard as every other candidate and should answer questions in a public forum, which he owes to the people who elected him!
Now, this is insanity!! Whitfield has not the courage to debate, and thinks he should be allowed to say what he wants without Heather having the chance at rebuttal???
Please, help up by calling the KET and letting them know that this is simply unacceptable. As provided in the link above, the number is 859-258-7000.
