First of all, Barack Obama and Joe Biden have done just fine in the debates. Have they been perfect, no, but no debate performance is perfect. Overall, just keep talking calmly to the American people and there is nothing that John McCain can do to you in this debate.
That being said, I have a few retorts for you to consider for some McCain zingers he might try to throw a monkeywrench in the election...
William Ayers:
I am sure you have this covered 6 ways to Sunday, but here is what I would say
Thanks John for finally being man enough to ask me this question to my face after millions of dollars of negative advertising and false statements on you and your running mate's stump speeches.
What the American people need to know about William Ayers is that he was tapped by wealthy Republican people, some of which are supporting your candidacy, to lead a foundation for reforming education. I joined that because it was a good bi-partisan reform oriented foundation. I did not look into Mr. Ayers past because I assumed if this group of esteemed Republicans wanted Mr. Ayers on their board that there was no issue.
What I have said about Mr. Ayers is that I abhor everything he did and all the violence against our country he stands for. He is not part of my campaign, he has not donated or campaigned for my presidential campaign and frankly I do not know or care if he is even voting for me on November 4th.
In terms of palling around with people that matter, the American people should ask some questions about your relationships. Specifically, the 40 lobbyists and former lobbyists who are at the top level of your campaign advising you. The American people should ask, what do these 40 lobbyists want in return if they get John McCain/Sarah Palin elected? What industries and companies do they represent? If you take a look at them they are a list of all of the interests that the GWB administration has been in the tank for the last 8 years, I don't call that change...that is more of the same. (Feel free to name a few of the high level ones as examples)
Finally, I think the American people deserve to know why you picked a running mate that pals around with the AIP that has its stated purpose to seceed from the United States of America, what does that say about Gov Palin and your judgement. Seceeding from the United States are not values that most Americans agree with.
Teddy Roosevelt:
If McBush mention TR one more time and you let it go, I will jump into the TV and...scream...this has been an incredible missed opportunity for a zinger and a headline...
Here is a Wiki reference for you http://en.wikipedia.org/...
John, now I have to admit I did not know Teddy Roosevelt who was president 100 years ago, but I am sure he was a friend of yours. I also understand why you are mad a Spain since Teddy Roosevelt shares your anger with Spain as Secretary of the Navy advocated war with Spain.
While TR may have been a good president looking back 100 years into history for solutions to todays problems is the problem with the Republican party and your candidacy. We want to get back to peace and prosperity like we had under the 8 years of Bill Clinton as opposed to 4 more years of policies that for the issues that matter to the American people you supported GWB 90% of the time...
Tax Increases/Spending:
If John McBush brings up the spending and taxes that you supposedly raised, you answered this fairly well in the last debate...to add to that and bring it home for the American people...
There will be no tax increases on anybody making under $250K and that includes small businesses NET PROFITS after all of their business expenses are deducted from the buiness, not your gross income. So if you are a small business and make $5 million in gross sales and have $4.75 million in business expenses you will pay no additional taxes, in fact my plan has business tax relief for your business.
On spending, yes I have priorities of making investments to have our country be energy independent and fixing our broken healthcare for those who do not have or do not like their current health insurance. But what the McCain campaign does not tell you is that every one of my investment initiatives are paid for by other spending cuts. I promise the American people here today that I will not spend money on these 2 national priorities without offsetting cuts in other programs or tax giveaways to multi-national corporations.
John McCain voted for 4 of the 5 GWB budgets that added $5 Trillion dollars to our national debt after being given a surplus budget from Bill Clinton that was projected to pay our national debt down by $4 Trillion during the past 8 years...that is a negative swing of $9 Trillion! That is not change you can believe in that is more of the same.
Lets go back to living within our means like President Bill Clinton did and I will too.
Iraq war/foreign policy/Support of Troops
In general I thought you did great on foreign policy in the last debates. In foreign policy, a "tie" equals a "win" but I believe you can win this debate as well.
The Surge/Voting for funding Troops
John, talk about the surge all you want, but the American people know that your judgement was flawed about the Iraq war from the start...
You said we would be greeted as liberators...we were not
You said it would be short and easy...it was not
You said on multiple occasions that the end was near...you were wrong
Now after 6 years and almost 1/2 a Trillion dollars spent on Iraq, Bin Laden is still out there and we are still spending $10 Billion dollars a month on a war that is not helping us crush Bin Laden and his terror cells...The American People know you did not have good judgement supporting a war that had nothing to do with 9/11 while underfunding our efforts to catch the real people who attacked our country...
I promise the American people that when I believe it is in our national interests to commit our troops I will be brutally honest with our citizens, that it will not be cheap, easy and painless to go to war, but here is why we have to do it. And any war we get into will be honestly and clearly explained to the American people what the reason for war is, what our objective is and the committment of resource will affect our country.
Regardless if the surge worked, did not work, partially worked, the Iraq war should have never been fought in the first place and if we hadn't we would have been in a better position to address other threats in the world like in Iran and North Korea...
Talking to Leaders:
Again, I thought you have done a great job on this point. Just to bring it home in the final debate.
John I know you have talking points about my statements on the record related to talking to leaders of countries that are awful nasty regimes. Yes it is true, my policy will be to engage thorse leaders in a variety of ways that are beneficial to our country. Telling countries we do not like, "we won't talk to you directly" just has not worked and has resulted in a more dangerous world. I believe the American people understand that talking from a position of strength can help make our world a safer place and save American lives and resources.
I pledge to the American people out there that any presidential talks I have with our enemies will only be to further the interest of the American people of peace and prosperity not to give rouge leaders a national stage to spew hate.
Supporting Troops Funding Vote:
Supporting the troops vote, again I thought you did a great job last time on this subject, but to win here is what the American people need to hear:
John, damn right I did not support funding our troops without a timeline and you know, I was right. Did you even look at the bill I voted for to support the troops with a timeline...it had so many safegards in the bill that absolutly allowed for assessment from the Generals on the ground in Iraq that it was a balanced and sensible bill. And this is where the Iraqi PM and the GWB administration is now with a timeline. John, the American people know that putting a timeline objective in place, starts things in motion towards meeting that objective. In fact, that vote helped both the Iraqi leaders realize that their unlimited US involvement was not forever and they better start stepping up to the plate to take control of their country. If it was not for me and the Democrats in congress making that stand, the Iraqis might still be thinking that we would be there to support them for the next 100 years.
The bottom line is I support the troops fighting now, I support them when they get home by funding Veterans programs that you voted againt (feel free to list a few of them). That is why many veterans groups are supporting my candidacy over yours because when I say I support veterans, I vote for their programs after they give of themselves so bravely and selflessly and you give them great speechs and lip service. And a president, I promise that all veterans including John McCain who served our country so bravely will be well taken care of.
So that is it...you did great and I know you will do great again! These are just suggestions to bring it home to the American people! Go Get them Barack Obama!!!
