The evidence suggests that I've knocked more doors in IN, than any other vol. canvasser (est. 15K incl'g the primary, and blinds).
I was knocking doors for Obama with a box of Philly speeches saved from the primary, and some photocopied policy lit, back in June, when everyone had given up IN for dead. We've gone back-and-forth between various classifications, and at the end of the day - we appear to lag behind our "sister states" (NC, MO). In other words, we are now being left by Chicago for dead.
Chicago, don't forget that we held the line, during the primary. We survived the "second coming" of Rev. Wright. Indiana Democrats are a tough breed, and we need help ...
We've registered approx. 500K+ voters in this state, according to the (GOP) Sec'y of St. We've also moved gobs of undecideds, with our repeated contacts.
Chicago, the problem is that you folks were running negative ads here in IN, during the last two weeks. That might have been a "defensive" reaction to the Ayers stuff, but it's not what we need here, in this state.
We need Barack to face the camera, and calmly tell our ind. voters how he will build America from the bottom up. And why he believes in American Workers, and American Small Businesses.
Barack must say that the Middle Class, is the engine of growth, the foundation of wealth, in America. He must look Presidential, comforting, and reassuring. He has to talk about health care, directly to our Indiana persuadables. And college, and mortgages, or 401(k)s. How about to our unions, who are 100% with us? Unions are the core of the middle class!
Chicago, do you read us?
We need help for Indiana campaigns here, on the ground. We're not a lost cause, we are some of the hardest-working Dem.s in the country.
You can't entirely abandon us - we have a significant race going on here in the 4th Cong'l Dist. (Nels!) and we have a 51-49 margin in the state house. (We're defending a Dem. seat right here, in Tipp. Co. ... c.f. http://www.fivethirtyeight.com/...
Don't abandon us, Chicago! We have been working here, in the dark, in the depths of hell for aeons. We've fought this state to a virtual standstill. Of course, we understand priorities.
Just give us a little love, in the closing days. Okay?
