In 2004 I cast a vote for John Kerry. He won my state (just), but I knew he would. It wasn't the greatest feeling I've ever had. Voting for someone simply because the aren't the other guy doesn't really fill me with a sense of creamy goodness...
But, today...
Today my wife and I arrived home to find our ballots in the mail box. We literally left the stuff we had in the car, went inside, and filled out our ballots.
It was a liberating, joyful moment. I actually wanted to vote for the candidate this time. I was inspired to do it.
I grew up with the attitude that the government was going to do what the government was going to do no matter what I thought, felt, or cared about. Today I feel like maybe, just maybe, it doesn't have to be like that anymore.
Now I just hope everyone else comes along for the ride and we see this through to the end...Now I'm just anxious.
