It's the new theme of the campaign, but it really isnt' a new theme at all. The whole liberals are un-American buzz is just getting new life by the likes of Michelle Bachman and Robin Hayes. By now most are familiar with Michelle Bachman's McCarthy-like charge that members of congress should be investigated for un-American activities. With the response from the netroots after that fiasco you would think that other Republicans, especially those who aren't in safe districts, would stay away from making similar charges.
Apparently, Robin Hayes isn't bright enough to pick up on that. Maybe he knew that he was in a group of Republicans and local press who wouldn't expose him for the asshat he truly is. Maybe he was right. We don't find a record of his comments in local press. We actually found them in the New York Observer.
According to the Observer Congressman Patrick McHenry got the crowd riled up:
First, Representative Patrick McHenry cheered what he called the “biggest crowd John McCain has gotten in North Carolina” and emphasized that this was a critical election with a stark choice between the candidates.
“It’s like black and white,” someone in the crowd at the Cabarrus Arena & Events Center yelled out, laughing. McHenry let the remark pass and finished his speech.
Of course McHenry let the remark stand. The squirt was probably afraid to confront the crowd as vicious as they've been of late.
Hayes was up next and tried to calm the crowd down at first, only to wind up using buzz words to incite them once again:
He yielded the microphone to Representative Robin Hayes, who prefaced his comments by saying it was important to “make sure we don’t say something stupid, make sure we don’t say something we don’t mean.” Republicans, he reminded the crowd, were kind people. Plus, he added, the liberal media had shown itself eager to distort such remarks. With the crowd duly chastened and put on best behavior, he accused Obama of “inciting class warfare” and said that “liberals hate real Americans that work and achieve and believe in God.”
That's right. Hayes is now claiming that liberals - and he means Democrats - hate real Americans. This, of course, means we couldn't possibly be real Americans.
What's he going to do next? He's trailing in the polls. He's running the nastiest campaign anyone has seen from the man and that is truly saying something. He's desperate. There is no limit to how low this man is willing to go.
This is the same Robin Hayes who claimed that we can win in Afghanistan by spreading the message of Christ.
Stability in Iraq ultimately depends on spreading the message of Jesus Christ, the message of peace on earth, good will towards men. Everything depends on everyone learning about the birth of the Savior.
When looking for outlandish claims from Hayes they are pretty easy to find. He's left a long trail of them throughout his career.
Remember, this is the same man who claimed that Saddam was linked to the events of 9/11 even after President Bush had admitted otherwise. In aninterview on CNN in 2005:
"Saddam Hussein and people like him were very much involved in 9/11," Rep. Robin Hayes said.
Told no investigation had ever found evidence to link Saddam and 9/11, Hayes responded, "I'm sorry, but you must have looked in the wrong places."
At the time, Senator John McCain refused to back up Hayes' claim:
Sen. John McCain, R-Arizona, said that Saddam was a dangerous man, but when asked about Hayes' statement, would not link the deposed Iraqi ruler to the terrorist attacks on New York, the Pentagon and Pennsylvania.
"I haven't seen compelling evidence of that," McCain, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, told CNN.
Larry Kissell is one of the hardest working candidates I know. He has scrapped and clawed and fought to get the recognition he now has. He's gone into debt, paid it off, earned the support of the DCCC and still struggles to raise money even though he works at it as full time as he can.
Please, as someone helping on the ground - I'm organizing 8th District GOTV for Union Co. - Please, please, please help Larry as much as you can. We have got to get rid of Robin Hayes. We're battling the racism and the angry mob-like crowds. We can't go to an Obama rally without having our tires slashed. Reporters are getting knocked down and kicked around at Palin rallies and McCain and Palin are here in NC doing their best to incite more angry words and violence.
Please help Larry. He is ahead in the polls, but this victory must be decisive.
