Little Rock TV anchorwoman Anne Pressly, who plays Ann Coulter in Oliver Stone's new movie W., was left in critical condition after beaten in her home sometime late Sunday.
Police have no motive and think the ABC morning newswoman may have been attacked during a "robbery attempt," but the political climate and her role as the conservative columnist in the controversial movie raises many questions about whether Anne was purposely targeted.
I'm sorry for the short diary but there really isn't too much more to add to this except that I hope everyone keeps Anne in their thoughts and prayers.
It is far too early to speculate as to why this senseless violence occurred. It would be inappropriate to connect conspiratorial dots but then again there's something that seems strange about this.

UPDATE: I appreciate the first rec but even greater is the appreciation in this community to get the story right and to debate the ethics of jumping the gun. Is there speculation in this article? Perhaps, but I suppose we didn't "know" why Bill Gwatney was targeted right after people found out he was shot. I'm not trying to make a connection between these two obviously isolated events, but let's not forget that there IS a very tense political climate going on. My apologies to anyone who is offended by a lack of facts within this diary.
To clarify, Ann Pressly's role in the movie is speaking favorably of the "Mission Accomplished" speech.
UPDATE 2: Pressly may not have been stabbed after all, but the beating was severe enough to tear skin. Her injuries include blunt force trauma per the Arkansas Times Blog.
Also noted at Under the Dome is a message left on her Facebook account at 9:51 "thanking those who went to see her 30 second part in the movie 'W.'

UPDATE 3: Newsworthy? Recworthy? I'll let people judge this story on its own merits, and I appreciate those who don't want to see a truther-style New World Order discussion unfold.
Here's what we know, per the Arkansas Times Blog:
KATV's report on the assault said police were interviewing friends about whether Pressly had ever mentioned being threatened or stalked, but a police spokesman told KTHV there'd been no reports of stalking by Pressly.
The crime had earmarks of a targeted act against a single person. The police have told the local neighborhood association, however, that patrols in the area will be increased until a suspect is arrested.
Also noted in some news articles is Sgt. Cassandra Davis of the Little Rock Police Department noting that Pressly may have been attacked during a robbery attempt since her purse is missing. Police haven't found any forced entry to her home on Club Road in Little Rock. Said Davis:
"It’s not a neighborhood known for any violent crime."
