This is my second diary. Excuse any breaches of protocol.
Having followed politics for over 50 years I have never seen an election with prominent members of one party publicly endorsing the opposition candidate. One of the reasons, I think, this is occurring is that a deep dark secret of the GOP has come out. That secret is McCain's temperament. We have heard bits and pieces of this over the past year. Using the word C... in relation to Cindy, ranting at a reporter on his campaign plane.
The matter had to be reported by the MSM(who had not done so before) after the first and second debate. His open disdain for Barack in a high profile setting could not be glossed over. The snap polls after each of these debates were clearly influenced by this.
His choice of Sarah Palin reinforces this. He wanted to be President so bad he bent over backwards to satisfy his base rather then what was best for the country, let alone his party.
If one date signifies the end of McCains campaign it is the first debate. He failed to show the temperament to handle the crisis surrounding the country at the time. He forgot the size of the audience he would be dealing with. The ultimate winner will be the American People.
