I just got a nice mailer from my good friend John McCain. Wanna see? Click here. And look at this. He was kind enough to put on it a big picture of a scowling, artificially darkened Barack Obama. Next to the picture is a quote from the Washington Post, which apparently wrote, on August 12, 2007, that "Obama ‘looks just like another liberal...’".
Come again?
How, exactly, does Obama "look like a liberal"? Would it be his angry expression? Or his enhanced darkness? Or the high contrast and saturation of the image? I dunno. Oh wait, yes I do. Obama looks just like all the other angry black liberals I know. Duh. Looks like John McCain and the Colorado Republican Committee are trying to scare me from voting for a black guy, I guess.
Best part of this mailer is that I actually found the archives of the Washington Post from August 12, 2007. I even found the exact line which is quoted in the mailer. Guess what? They’re quoting a column from noted conservative columnist George F. Will. Clearly, this is a legit quote which reflects the editorial position of the Washington Post. See, they have the Post’s logo right here, above the quote, next to the big scary pic. They would never just make something up, would they?
