Gee, I sure am missing my ol' home state.
Looks like they're putting in enough creationists to actually change, that's right, change the textbooks that are purchased for the Texas schools. But they're not stopping at creationism- oops- I mean "intelligent design" (because it's scientific, don'tcha know). No sirree, these here "global warming" types, godless of course, have to be stopped, and according to one member, "I won't vote for any textbook that suggests global warming is man made".
Sorry, but I have no idea how to provide video- I'll put a link into one that goes over the names to keep in mind, if you're in Texas. But please, everyone should take a look, eventhough this guy is a little, uh, rough looking, he does a great job of telling us who these loonies are and how they got where they are. That's what the rest of us, outside of Texas, have to pay attention to- The recipe for Backwards Science: Millionaire Backer + Christian Fundamentalists + Training = Schools with Science from the Bronze Age.

When we live in blue states, it's easy to lose track of how far into whacko-land some of the other areas of the country have gone. We hear these little clips, and it sounds outrageous to us, but we need to ask ourselves how we handle this nonsense for the long term. There will have to be a ground game that goes on beyond this election- because they already have one in place. It's easy to think, well, that's just Tx problem, doesn't effect me, but it does. The people who publish textbooks are watching this- they're not going to publish a science textbook that will be turned down by the second largest buyer in the market.
We get to rest Nov. 5th. Then it's back to work. Let's root out this backwards crap.
