Per the campaign's internal polling, Orange to Blue Democrat Annette Taddeo has gained fully 24 points on Republican incumbent Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, and trails the incumbent by just single digits.
Lake Research Partners for Annette Taddeo. 10/21. Likely voters. MoE 4.9%. (June numbers)
Ros-Lehtinen (R) 48 (58)
Taddeo (D) 41 (27)
That's a full 24-point swing. Out of the three Miami-area races, Taddeo's has long been considered the most difficult, but if this polling is accurate, she appears to have done a splendid job overwhelming difficult odds, and has put herself in a position to win.
Ros-Lehtinen is now under 50%, and Barack Obama has a small lead in the district, 47% to 45%; he was 10 points back in June.
Second, the voter-registration numbers are phenomenal for Democrats all across the state, and nowhere more so than in FL-18:
Second, Democrats are making historic gains in voter registration throughout south Florida, and in the 18th Congressional District in particular. In just two years, the Republican advantage over the Democrats in the 18th CD has dropped from 22,000 to less than 2,000,3 making this area a prime spot for a Democratic takeover.
Ileana Ros-Lehtinen is a well-entrenched incumbent, and beating her was never going to be easy. But in 2008 with Annette Taddeo, we have the best opportunity we will ever have to topple Ileana from her position of dominance in the Miami Cuban-American political community, and to gain a valuable House seat we can hold for years.
Go help Annette Taddeo across the finish line. She's done a remarkable job this year, and you can support her final push by throwing Ileana Ros-Lehtinen an anvil.
