Check out this amazing AP article:
WASHINGTON (AP) - Al-Qaida supporters suggested in a Web site message this week they would welcome a pre-election terror attack on the U.S. as a way to usher in a McCain presidency.
The message, posted Monday on the password-protected al-Hesbah Web site, said if al-Qaida wants to exhaust the United States militarily and economically, "impetuous" Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain is the better choice because he is more likely to continue the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
"This requires presence of an impetuous American leader such as McCain, who pledged to continue the war till the last American soldier," the message said. "Then, al-Qaida will have to support McCain in the coming elections so that he continues the failing march of his predecessor, Bush."
Al Qaeda wants a weak America that makes dumb decisions. That's why they support Bush-McCain policies.
But while this many feel like vindication to those of us who believe in Democratic policies of keeping our focus on the real terrorists, there is a really scary part of this message:
"If al-Qaeda carries out a big operation against American interests," the message said, "this act will be support of McCain because it will push the Americans deliberately to vote for McCain so that he takes revenge for them against al-Qaida. Al-Qaida then will succeed in exhausting America till its last year in it."
Now, this may be idle chatter. But don't forget Bin Laden issued a videotape 4 days before the 2004 election and this helped swing a close election to Bush.
Al Qaeda may try again. Either with a tape or an attack.
And while there are some voters who will blame Bush-McCain if that happens, I think that there are still many who will have a knee jerk reaction and gravitate to the republican, just like Bin Laden wants them to.
And so yes, it's the economy, stupid.
But don't discount the possibility that Al Qaeda will try to swing the election to John McCain.
A president who talks of 100 years in Iraq is just what the Al Qaeda recruiter ordered.... but a president who promises to go after them, even in Pakistan, is not.
Al Qaeda wants a weak America and so they want the GOP to bankrupt the country.
So please don't let this amazing revelation by Al Qaeda on one of their internal websites go unnoticed. Forward it to GOP leaning voters who you are in contact with. This is is one hell of a lot more damning than Bill Ayers. I'm not saying John McCain is a traitor...but Al Qaeda supports his policies because his policies weaken America. John McCain plays right into the terrorists' hands.
While I commend the AP for doing the story, this should be getting a lot more play....it's far more important than the cost of Sarah Palin's clothes.
