Hey friends - this is short but I'd love to hear what Kossacks would do with that $150,000. Bonus points if you're a Joe Sixpack.
This burns me up because I, from the start, have been disgusted with her trying to identify with all people below a certain income level. They love to present Joe Sixpack and the Real America as disdainful of anything that gets in the way of their shootin', footballin' or drinkin'. Well, my parents are Joe Sixpacks - all 4 of them - and as the spawn of these thinking Americans, who don't hate ideas but rather do not embrace Republican ideas, her continual insult to them has been burning my ass for two months now. They drink beer, play golf, they get loud at parties, they watch Jeopardy, they work for their unions, they work against their unions when the union is run by assholes, they got good grades in high school, they didn't go to college because they had to support themselves and their families, they didn't always get seconds at dinner and firsts were often skimpy when they were kids, they watch the news, read the papers, talk to their neighbors, volunteer at the community theatre, drive school buses, work on the railroad, get laid off by the railroad, carry mail, work at the post office counter, stress about medical care when all the doctors in town refuse to do worker's comp claims, rest their aching feet while they read US Weekly, read books, play with their grandkids, plant flowers in their yards, laugh with their friends, cry with their friends, take care of each other, and VOTE FOR DEMOCRATS. Because Joe Sixpack cares about people, not just himself.
So - I would take that $150,000, if I were so blessed to have it given to me, and put 100k toward my undergrad and law school Department of Education debt, put 20k toward my private student loan debt, pay 5k toward the new windows I had to put in my rapidly depreciating house, and save the remaining 25k to help out in case my Joe Sixpack parents ever have to go into retirement homes.
What would you do with it?
