During his endorsement of Barack Obama, a great man stated that he had looked at a photo for an hour. It is easy to imagine that he was crying.
Indeed, what NeoCons and other Leo Strauss followers and Cheney and their machine had done was to cheapen life. But Life finds a way:
Run for your life, naked and maimed.
Courage.
And now, Mrs. Khan. The calm agony of mourning... as Lincoln. She unites us all.
Life is not compatible with the Hellish lies of America's Right Wing. For the burned child, BTF:
Kim Phuc was treated by soldiers. Pieces of napalm were picked out of her back. Then she got water.
Here is the same human being. One must admire her husband. Good man.
We have to be staggered at what that kid did in China. Socrates, Jesus, the Buddha... members of that club. He will be an example for mankind for ever. We do not have to be part of the machine.
Lincoln and Mrs. Khan bring us back full cycle. To the value of life.
Mourning the deaths of their sons.... Lincoln mourned two young sons.
This photograph of Elsheba Khan could be remembered for as long as there is an America. She is not famous, not a war time president. Likely she will not reappear in history.
But there is no way to look at this image honestly without crying. Ask Colin Powell. It changed him. Not just the endorsement. It changed him.
BTW: anybody who insists on getting links and lots and lots of cut-and-paste talk... please, learn to drink.
