We are 12 days away from the finish line. We need to dig deep and make sure that we keep some candidates in positions to win. There are always races that could have been won if we had kept the candidates on the air or delivered some last minute money for radio or get out the vote efforts. Let's not leave anything on the table. I know we are all hurting, but there are some races where we can absolutely make a difference.
I set a goal of $6,400 to raise this cycle on The Progressive Electorate Act Blue Page. We have less than $800 to go. . We have a number of great candidates that need your help.
Help us get there. I'll personally match $1 on this page for each recommendation of this diary. . There's another special bonus available mentioned at the end if you keep reading.
We have four candidates that we want you to take a close look at tonight.
Josh Segall (AL-03), Darcy Burner (WA-08), Dan Johnson (NC-10) and Glenn Melancon (TX-04)
We have several candidates that need your help:
- Josh Segall (AL-03) - A good friend of mine and a great candidate. He has more energy and passion for good politics than anyone I've ever met. Josh would absolutely be an improvement from do-nothing "Mike Rogers". Josh has been named a Red to Blue candidate, but has received little financial support as a result.
- Darcy Burner (WA-08) - Darcy is a perennial netroots favorite for many reasons. Now Dave Reichert may have received an illegal loan and the Seattle Times has not been favorable to covering this story. Read more here from McJoan
- Daniel Johnson (NC-10) - Daniel is another late Red to Blue addition. He is a veteran and taking on the obnoxious Patrick McHenry. While McHenry is a career politician always seeming to be as partisan as possible, Johnson has the qualities we would want in a public servant. Here's a great endorsement from a local North Carolina website
An excerpt
When the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee recently began hearings on the financial mess we are in, one of its members didn’t even bother to show up. You guessed it: Patrick McHenry. He was too busy running for re-election. Not surprising for a fellow who has never had a real job in his life.
McHenry’s staunchest support comes from the banking, insurance, real estate, health care and securities sectors. Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Washington Mutual and AIG are among his contributors.
Equally troubling to us is McHenry’s close association with people of questionable character and moral judgment.
While he blows the horn of conservative, Christian family values, McHenry’s personal life raises eyebrows and should cause voters of our district to look more closely at what he really is: a packaged, professional politician who masquerades as something he clearly is not.
That brings us to Daniel Johnson, the man we heartily recommend for election to the U.S. House.
Johnson, a decorated Navy hero and family man, has received most of his contributions and support from regular folks who want a "representative" in Washington not a puppet for special interests that line their pockets while making our lives even more difficult.
Johnson, the son of a Hickory minister and a public school teacher, lost both of his legs below the knees while saving the life of a fellow sailor. His bravery earned him the Navy and Marine Corps Medal, the highest peacetime medal for heroism.
- Glenn Melancon (TX-04) - Glenn is one of our unsung heroes that keeps fighting.
Today, Glenn released a video where the incumbent Ralph Hall said he "would dig on his own Grandfathers grave for oil."
This is a very cheap media market inside Texas and Hall doesn't have a great big war chest. We can absolutely shock the world in this race.
Please look at all of our races and remember my pledge to donate $1 for each recommendation. On top of that for whomever gets the most votes in this poll will get an extra $25 from me.
