No, he didn't say so in so many words. But WOW, was I impressed at what he DID say.
Brian Williams interviewed McCain and Palin as Chuck Todd (NBC's political director)looked on. On either Olbermann or Matthew's show, Williams and Todd commented on the interviews, and Todd was particularly critical of them. According to him, they lacked chemistry, seemed like they were strangers who had been thrown together on a stage, and they lacked chemistry. They really lacked chemistry.
Fast forward to Rachel Maddow's show a couple of hours later and suddenly Chuck Todd is.... pretty quiet. He's clearly been told to tone down his commentary. And when Rachel Maddow askes Brian Williams if he thinks Palin's relatively better performance in his interview as compared other "disatrous" ones, is due to her "maturing" as a candidate, my hero of the day, Brian Williams, responds: "Well, first of all, I do want to talk to you someday about the world of television ownership, but perhaps for another time."
I'm ecstatic over this admission by him and I'm really astonished that no one else here diaried it before me, particularly considering that I saw the newscast on its five-hours-later second airing.
