Some strange stories about republican road rage (h/t to Ben Smith at the Politico)
First, the events after a Sarah Palin rally:
Heated words between drivers leaving Sarah Palin’s rally Monday allegedly escalated with one man brandishing a loaded handgun.
Jack B. Cheskaty, 62, of Grand Junction, said he pulled a handgun because “he wanted to be ready for anything” in what started as a verbal spat between drivers in bumper-to-bumper traffic leaving Lincoln Park around 8 p.m. Monday, according to an arrest affidavit.
Cheskaty and three family members were riding in a Chrysler, moving slowly in a line a traffic. A man behind the wheel of a Kia SUV attempted to inch in front of Cheskaty’s Chrysler, the affidavit said.
“If you want to get ahead of me you’ll have to deal with my insurance agency,” Cheskaty allegedly shouted.
The Kia’s driver reportedly replied, “I’ve got insurance too.”
The driver in the Kia alleged Cheskaty then displayed a handgun, “racked the slide” and held the weapon over the steering wheel, according to the affidavit.
Then in Virginia, a strange story involving John McCain's brother, Joe:
We have the tape of a 911 call made by John McCain (web|news|bio) 's brother earlier this week.
He called the police emergency line because he was angry he was stuck in traffic.
The 911 call came into the City of Alexandria on Oct. 21st That's creating some buzz because it appears to come from Joe McCain, John McCain's brother.
Operator: 911 state your emergency
Caller: It's not an emergency but do you know why on one side at the damn drawbridge of 95traffic is stopped for 15 minutes and yet traffic's coming the other way?
Operator: Sir, are you calling 911 to complain about traffic? (pause)
Caller: "(Expletive) you." (caller hangs up)
Joe McCain, if you recall, was recently in the news for calling Northern Virginia "communist country."
It's kind of ironic that Joe the commie-hater seems to think that government can solve all his traffic problems.
But anyways, these are just 2 republicans...what does this have to do with John McCain?
Well, it seems that Cindy doesn't let John Drive much.
John McCain wants to take the helm of the country. Just don't let him take the wheel of the car.
His wife, Cindy McCain, confided to Jay Leno on Wednesday that the former Navy fighter pilot is a not exactly Dale Earnhardt Jr. on the freeways.
"He's not the best of drivers," she said on "The Tonight Show" on NBC. "I drive most of the time."
I guess John is too erratic of a driver to be allowed near the wheel of any of his 13 cars.
And so Kossacks, a friendly piece of advice. If Barack Obama wins the election and you live in a red area of the country, you might want to stay off the roads as much as possible on November 5th!
