I was looking at Newslink and linked to the Hawaii newspapers and television stations in Honolulu, Hawaii.
The local reports say that Grandmother Dunham, known as Toot, is suffering from Cancer.

I found this so sad because of his mother passing away from cancer as well.
We heard that Grandmother Dunham broke her hip last week and came home early this week. From that the reports came that she was gravely ill and may not make it to her 86th birthday, which is this coming Sunday or to the night of the election, November 4th, to hopefully see her beloved 'Barry' become our 44th president.
I went to the Newslink site to see if there was anything interesting in the reports of his landing last night and came across a few reports where the mention was made of his grandmother's cancer.
This surprised me.
Then, I came across a news report on KTIV, the CBS station in Honolulu, Hawaii from a few days earlier that talked about her cancer.
This morning in the Star Bulletin, the local newspaper there were two stories about Obama's homecoming and both mentioned her condition.
Obama, who arrived on his campaign aircraft around 7:20 p.m., immediately traveled under police escort to the Punahou-area apartment of his grandmother, Madelyn Dunham, who is reportedly gravely ill with cancer.
He is to spend most of today with his grandmother, who turns 86 Sunday, before leaving this evening to resume his campaign tomorrow in Nevada. He has no public appearances planned while in Honolulu.
Many of the people outside the South Beretania Street building expressed support and sympathy for Obama and Dunham, who reportedly broke her hip recently and is suffering from cancer.
Though Obama may need this time for privacy, there were well wishers outside of the Apartment building where Grandmother Dunham lives. Many said they felt the need to show their support and that they were thinking of him and his grandmother.
I thought it was sweet to see so many people feel compelled to not just try to grab a glimpse of Obama but, to also try in some way to show him that many people care about him and his family and wish the best for him in some way.
I do hope Barack Obama knows how much the American people feel for him and that while he has touched so many of us in such a profound way and changed many lives in the process, we feel a deep love and respect for this singularly unique man.
I pray his grandmother, Toot, lives to see her 86th birthday and to see her grandson elected president. To see that all the hard work, love and sacrifice she and her husband made all those years ago and that the values they instilled in him took root and blossomed into a man who would become the 44th President of the United States.
