For those wondering how the wheels came off the McCain wagon, it turns out Palin might be loosening the bolts. And no matter how proud of Palin McCain may claim to be, there are people in the campaign who don't share that adoration.
As CNN is reporting:
"She is a diva. She takes no advice from anyone," said this McCain adviser. "She does not have any relationships of trust with any of us, her family or anyone else.
"Also, she is playing for her own future and sees herself as the next leader of the party. Remember: Divas trust only unto themselves, as they see themselves as the beginning and end of all wisdom."
Now, that's a ringing endorsement, if ever I've heard one. The idea that she thinks she has a real future in the Gop seems borderline delusional. Mike Huckabee would likely crush her in 2012, and he'll probably do no better than second in the primaries.
I've said it several times already, Palin is heading for television. Short of that, she could become the replacement for Ann Coulter, who the GOP would be happy to distance themselves from if they had a suitable replacement. And Simple Sarah can spout whatever will advance her career.
I can't imagine she has much of a future in politics, insofar as needing to be elected goes. Maybe she'll maintain enough local popularity to win a congressional seat or even the Senate. But I doubt it. And entertainment pays so much better.
The one thing i misread in her from the start is just how self-serving and calculated she is. Fortunately, her ambition outmatches her intellect several times over.
Now that even major outlets such as CNN are reporting the schism forming, Palin is going to force McCain to reign her in. GOP Showdown, Real Lunatic vs. Mock Maverick. Once that bell if rung, Obama gets a landslide. Only die-hards are going to vote for an imploding ticket.
What is most incredible is that a VP choice is not supposed to have a significant effect on a ticket. But Sarah Palin might actually swing congress to the democrats, in sheer revoltion to her party.
So, I find it bizarre that anyone thinks she is thinking about Palin 2012. She'll be a pariah from the mainstream GOP for a long time. But, she would probably fit in great on a Fox morning show.
I think McCain likes Obama more than Palin at thsi point:
In the end, there was no way McCain thought Palin was qualified.
