Ok, so this is the second time I've seen Obama here in New Mexico...
Last time I was lucky enough to shake his hand...made my day...hell, made my year....
No such luck today as there were 45 thousand freakin' New Mexico people there...but I was lucky in many other ways...
Last time Obama was in town was a beautiful day, but it was at noon and I went downtown to see him speak by myself.
This time I went with friends and family and it was a wonderful time for all of us....so, even though we were further away and I didn't get to say thanks to him and shake his hand, it was still a beautiful day and a wonderful time...
photos and such after the jump....
the "doors" were to open at 7 pm...no real doors as the event was at Johnson's Gym field at the University of New Mexico...we got there at 4 pm and the line was already 1/4 of the way across campus...by the end of the evening the line stretched from one end of campus to the other...insane....
thank god for new mexico weather...sunny and nice...just like the people...
the start for us at 4 pm
the line ahead...just a small part visible
i swear that is George Lopez's head as he was walking past...in the middle by the smaller tree trunk
George was very funny and the crowd loved him....Obama should always have a comedian come on before him
snaking crowd line
face messages...much better than a backward B...ouch, can't believe i just went there
by 6:30 the line was finally moving
sunset--sandia mountains as the backdrop
hella crowded
more sunset
TSA getting some overtime pay as security
a very true message
i really like this photo, but i'm biased...my lovely niece and my lovely daughter
Night comes quicker at this time of year
but the crowd was a great and patient (and loud) crowd...
a crowd shot
Tom Udall....my camera doesn't do well in the dark and in crowds...but why the parka Tom? It was a beautiful night.
Tom was a very good speaker...and Bill Richardson was really amazing...i think he has cemented a job with Barack...hopefully Secretary of State
McCain drew 1000, maybe 1500 today....Obama? 45,000...it was great...
i end with 2 awful side shots of Obama...But i don't really care that I couldn't get good photos at night...
In the end i got to spend a few hours with people i love...and everyone thought the evening was magic...i, since i'm 6 foot, i got a nice view the whole time even if these last two don't quite show it...
i dislike cowboy hats in the crowd
10 days...get out and vote...we need this, the country needs this
