Now that it appears that John McCain won't be occupying the White house, the low-down droopy dog that is Joe Lieberman is beginning his back-pedaling, kiss-up, ass-licking efforts towards Obama.
According to LIEberman:
"When I go out, I say, 'I have a lot of respect for Sen. Obama. He's bright. He's eloquent.'"
yeah, Joe....uh-huh....
I can't presently think of anyone who has been such an opportunistic piece of shit as Joe Lieberman. I'm sure others can probably come up with someone, but right now, he is the epitome of sleaze-bagness. I don't think he ever got over the fact that he lost his bid for Vice President. He sold what little soul he had to the devils that are the Republicans to further his personal agenda of more power. I don't see how anyone after this election could associate with this man. The Democrats and Republicans now see that he will turn on his own mother if it means he can latch on to whoever he thinks will be in a power position. The people of Conneticut can't kick him out fast enough. I want to see him become persona non-grata to everyone, not just the Democrats. After Obama tried to help him in his re-election bid for the Senate, he repays him by calling him everything but the Child of God.
Democrats are showing that they are no longer going to just "take it" the way unfortunately has been done in the past. This should apply to Lieberman as well as the Republicans. I understand that Elmer fudd was needed to caucus. I undertand that the "grin and bear it" attitude had to be taken. WHEN, and I do mean when, additional Senate seats are picked up, the FIRST order of business should be to snatch Lieberman's Chairmanship away from his sorry ass.
He should be as far away from any committee remotely related to foreign policy and affairs. He is the one who did not put his country first, unlike the accusation he threw at Obama. The only thing Joe-Schmoe Lieberman cares about is his own self. I don't know if the Dems will forgive him, but they HAD BETTER NEVER FORGET!
UPDATE:
From the Washington Monthly,
October 26, 2008
LIEBERMAN HASN'T BEEN PAYING ATTENTION TO HIMSELF.... Joe Lieberman adopted the role of Republican attack dog early on, but as the election draws near, he's hoping the political world has a very short memory.
Lieberman, a self-proclaimed "independent Democrat" who was chosen by McCain to make the case against Obama at the Republican National Convention in early September, said his comments have been within bounds.
"When I go out, I say, 'I have a lot of respect for Sen. Obama. He's bright. He's eloquent.'"
My hunch is, Lieberman sees the direction of the political winds, and hopes to convince Democrats that while he's been a McCain sycophant, he's always been "respectful" towards Obama.
Lieberman, in other words, has to hope Democrats haven't been paying any attention at all. The party is supposed to forget, for example, when Lieberman argued that Obama doesn't put "country first."
And the time Lieberman said it was a "good question" to ask whether Obama is a "Marxist."
And the time Lieberman ironically accused the Obama campaign of "sleazy tactics."
And the time Lieberman, at the Republican National Convention, falsely accused Obama of trying to undermine the troops
"Respectful"? Nice try, Joe.
