There has been one nasty community organizer suggesting that we vote early. He's been on the news, encouraging us to take advantage of early voting. I get frustrated with my usual polling place, as it is often very disorganized (lack of workers, no pens, unable to help with machines, etc.) so I encouraged my family to get out yesterday, and go vote early. WOW! What a difference.
We arrived at our designated "early voting" site, and walked into a very crowded, and quiet room. There were 10 machines, all occupied, and people lined up in chairs waiting for their chance to vote. The poll workers, probably funded by some socialist election program (tongue in cheek), promptly directed us to fill out a form, get out our ID's, and wait to be called.
We waited for about 45 minutes, but we didn't mind. It was like watching the "Price is Right", waiting to see who would be called next. With every voter I wondered "hmmm...wonder who they're voting for". It helped killed time. Once called, you were given instructions and an electronic card.
One much older lady working the desk announced publicly that she's going outside to have a cigarette, as if she was checking to make sure nobody in the room needed her assistance for a few minutes. Everybody looked around, and kind of shrugged like "ok with us"? At least she cared enough to check with everyone first...
The pollworkers were awesome, knowledgeable, patient, efficient, happy and outgoing. This truly is the way to vote, in my opinion.
I won't vote on another election day if I can help it. Oh yes, and by the way, add another 3 votes for Obama yesterday. Yes We Can!
