Hiya folks. Here in central Ohio, we're sending out 80,000 letters this week to undecided voters to try and counter the vicious McCain robocalls.
The letter consists of a typed page with the truth about Obama being a Christian, "decent family man" (even according to McCain), etc., decrying the negativity of the McCain campaign, and appeals to check out the true facts because "this election is so critical."
We are supposed to address the envelope, give the letter a personal touch with address and signature, and then add a personal P.S. with our own reasons for voting for Obama.
My question: How would you go about convincing an undecided, so-called "low-information" voter? Or just, a conflicted Republican looking for a reason to jump ship?
My own first impulse is to focus on the first things Obama says in his latest ad:
Thus, I'm planning to write about the tax cuts for 95% of working Americans and 98% of small businesses.
What other angles would you play up in your personal postscript in this letter? What other reasons for voting for Barack would you give?
Also, can any of you suggest a non-partisan site that would be easy for the recipient to remember (such as FactCheck.org) that debunks McCain's lies on taxes? FactCheck.org has some stuff on taxes but it's not focused on it.
Personally, my reasons for voting for Barack have more to do with health care, but I'm not sure I should focus on that with these undecideds.
Thanks for any ideas/help. My time horizon is such that any help would be appreciated asap. (These letters have to be mailed by tomorrow [Monday] night.)
Thanks again, and Barack the Vote!!!
