This year Big Oil has made record profits on the backs of Americans through outrageous prices at the pump. For decades in our country health care costs bankrupt seniors and families every day while the pharmaceutical companies fight every attempt to bring those costs down, and for 8 years the actions of the Big Banks pushing their cronies in Congress for less and less regulation has lead to record foreclosures and bringing the country to the brink of economic disaster. Steve Austria(R) has decided to represent them rather then the voters of Ohio's 7th Congressional district.

These corporate special interests are trying to retain their control on Congress by trying to buy the 7th district. Steve Austria has accepted:

At least $111,000 from health care, pharmaceutical and insurance interests, including Pfizer, Bristol Meyers Squibb, Nationwide, and the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors;

At least $53,000 from banking and finance interests, including American Banker’s Association, Sallie Mae, National City, and Bank of America; and

At least $36,400 from Big Oil and energy interests, including Marathon, ConocoPhillips, Ashland Oil, and American Gas Association.

The voters of the seventh district deserve a representative in Congress that represents their interests not the corporate special interests. This is why we need Sharen Neuhardt(D) in Congress

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

  •  This is my district and I really doubt that... (0+ / 0-)

Neuhardt has much of a chance.  I see about 25 Austria signs for every one of hers.  She's a good candidate with above average experience and education for this race.  But, she's run a fairly uninspiring and under-publicized race, albeit an underfunded one...which is a real bummer.  I'm not sure she tied in as well as she could have with the Obama camp.  Her only hope is straight Dem ticket voters.  And, I'm faced again with a rep that stands against about every thing I stand this gerrymandered district.  My true hope is the Dem control of the apportionment board in 2010 and then redistricting to a more representative scenario.

  •  tied to Obama camp (0+ / 0-)

I have personally seen Sharen at Obama events and at Obama offices a number of times. She also spoke in Lancaster on stage at the Biden Rally.

The Obama offices in Pickerington and Lancaster have a very obvious Neuhardt presence.

    Will it be enough,,not sure.

    We can only hope.

  •  Sorry if that was a bit strong... (0+ / 0-)

I donated to the Neuhardt campaign and would love to see her win as she's a solid person and would be great for OH7.  Maybe it's just me...but I'd still be truly surprised if she pulled out a win.

    I'm still hopin'...

    •  I'm still hopin' too (0+ / 0-)

whatever the case we will see what the "unadulterated" anti-repub sentiment will be around here, as the race is very underpublicized. I think Neuhardt will be just a few points behind, but I really hope she pulls it off.

Will OH-07 ever vote for someone from Yellow Springs? ;)
