Ok, let's blow past the intro and get to the heart of the matter, Chillin's temperature just rose ten degrees. Follow me below the fold please.
I just watched (and I mean literally), the first few minutes of CBS Evening News that I have watched since Dan Rather left. I had the tv on local news when I was home for lunch (a rarity for me) and never switched the channel to MSNBC before I left.
So, what do you think was the only piece I saw? A two minute hit piece by reporter Sheryl Attkinson claiming that Obama has received 17,000 dollars from someone identified only as "Doodad." Is it possible that a person hiding behind a made-up name could be allowed by the campaign to contribute more than the legal limit for an individual?
Then the piece mentioned that Obama has not released the names of people who have donated under $200.00. The implication being that these donations are somehow shady. She did not mention how many hundred of thousands if not millions of people have donated under or close to that amount. Nor did she say how much money those small donors amounted to.
Then she went on to say that Obama received $745,000 from employees of Goldman Sachs. Considering how much these people earn every year, I say big f-ing deal. Then she mentioned Robert Rubin and how that Goldman Sachs money would buy undue influence and access to Obama.
She repeated the meme that Obama went back on his "pledge" to not use private donations. (Hasn't that been thoroughly debunked yet?" Didn't he only pledge to discuss it? Please correct me if I am wrong.)
Oh and McCain received some small amount of money from some donors listed as "Anonymous."
This piece has me absolutely pissed and I have held my fire during most of this campaign. Please, if this upsets you too, send another donation and make it for xx.09 because that reporting was childish at every level. Or do some phonebanking. Please.
