Watching Keith Olbermann, and now Rachel Maddow, has become a part of my evening routine. During tonight's episode, I noticed that he did not do a "Bushed" segment, his running tally on the administration's neverending scandals. It got me thinking about how many I could recall without Keith's reminder and the following photo diary emerged.
The Legacy of George W. Bush
The electoral map of the 2000 election
September 11, 2001
Guantanamo Bay, Cuba
The NSA secret wiretap room at AT&T
Waterboarding
A group of polar bears on melting ice
No Child Left Behind
The Iraq War
Abu Ghraib
The outing of Valerie Plame Wilson
Pat Tillman, Jessica Lynch - False Information from the Pentagon
The 2004 Election
Hurricane Katrina - August 29, 2005
Jack Abramoff - Republican lobbyist and convicted felon
Neglecting veterans - The Walter Reed Scandal
Alberto Gonzales and the Department of Justice
Cleaning up a foreclosed home in Roseville, Michigan
An eviction in San Bernadino County, California
Foreclosure intervention team - Boston, Massachusettes
Protesting the bailout
Passing the torch
This is not meant to be an exhaustive list, by any means, but rather an exercise in free association (When I think of Bush I think of...).
As the election winds to a close, let us not lose sight of what is truly at stake, of who we are fighting for. George Bush has left behind a legacy that historians and we, the people, will be paying for and rehashing for decades. We cannot and must not allow four more years of his foreign and domestic policies. It is time for a change.
